Take a deep breath
Often I ask weird questions such as, I wonder if the decrease in people smoking has something to do with the increase in anxiety among people in the US? After doing a bit of research, I found a study that showed that the deep breathing associated with smoking was actually the part that produced a calming effect for the smokers. It wasn’t the smoking, but the breathing. Therefore, don’t smoke, but take deep breaths often! Take breathing breaks! Deep breathing does help calm people down.
So, today I’m advising you to take deep breaths often. Our breath comes from God, it is how he set us apart and created us in his image. Genesis 2:7 says, “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Before that in Genesis 1:27, it says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Center your self (mind, body, soul, thoughts, feelings, emotions, etc) on this truth today that God created you and breathed life in to you. Live as his workmanship today as you do good works. No matter what the future holds, you can know who ultimately holds the future and that is God!
Every breath we take is truly given by God, so make each breath an intentional point to think about God today and nothing else. I promise as you do this, the things of this world will grow strangely dim!
