Bio:
Olyvia is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student who is currently pursuing her degree at Liberty University. Olyvia is enrolled in the Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, where she is developing the skills and knowledge necessary to support individuals in their mental health journeys. Prior to, Olyvia obtained a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from UNC Charlotte. Additionally, Olyvia works as a Behavioral Health Specialist. She provides support in a residential treatment setting for adolescents ages 12–17. In her role, she works closely with clients to promote emotional regulation, build coping skills, and foster a safe and supportive therapeutic environment.
Counseling Approach:
Olyvia recognizes that entering a therapeutic space often requires a level of vulnerability that may feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable for many clients. She understands that trust and a sense of safety take time to develop and are essential to meaningful therapeutic work. Olyvia aims to work collaboratively with clients to build a supportive and respectful environment where they feel heard, valued, and empowered to share their experiences.
Her approach is rooted in a person-centered perspective, where she engages as a genuine and present partner in the counseling process rather than an authority figure. Through open and authentic conversation, Olyvia encourages clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, values, and personal experiences at their own pace. She values the uniqueness of each individual and adapts her approach to meet clients where they are.
By respecting and validating each client’s perspective, Olyvia supports them in gaining insight, developing a stronger sense of self, and working toward meaningful change. She views the therapeutic relationship as a foundation for growth, where collaboration and mutual understanding guide the process toward each client’s personal goals.
Fun Fact:
Olyvia enjoys teaching a high school drumline, where she shares her passion for music while mentoring students and helping them build confidence, discipline, and teamwork skills.
