Monica received her undergraduate degree in Human Relations from Pfeiffer University, her Master’s Degree of Social Work from University of North Carolina Charlotte. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
Currently, she works as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Director as well as for Natalie Atwell Counseling. She has previously worked as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and has a passion for working with all individuals who may be experiencing issues with Substance Use Disorder.She also specializes in working with family members or loved ones of those with Substance Use Disorder and the effects it may have on their lives as well. She counsels with other forms of addiction as well. Often times those struggling with Substance Use Disorders and other types of addictions are also dealing with Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, etc., and she can help individuals should you have both or no addiction issues at all. Monica is able to work with you on a plan on all these issues simultaneously if needed.
Although her counseling style is wide-ranging, Monica frequently uses cognitive-behavioral techniques combined with solution focused applications and client centered approach in therapy.
She helps her clients who include young adults, adults and families by approaching each person as a unique individual, getting to know their needs and working alongside to find healthy understanding of themselves and strengthening their relationships so they may have a more peaceful way of living.
When Monica is not working she enjoys cooking, socializing with friends and family and attending Church.
