Bio:
Jay received his master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Carolina Central University. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics, with a concentration in management, from the University of Pennsylvania and has served in the corporate and educational sectors for several years. Jay currently works as a career coach and a licensed minister. He has previously served as an elementary teacher and restorative practices coordinator.
Counseling Approach:
Jay believes that every person is created with a unique purpose, and therapy can be a tool to identify, activate, and sustain life’s purpose. Jay views counseling as a positive collaborative process where the counselor facilitates a space for clients to unapologetically speak, reflect, and problem-solve. During therapy, Jay uses an eclectic approach, primarily focusing on Cognitive-Behavioral and and Solution-Focused therapy through an existential and systemic lens. The use of techniques and interventions vary depending on the presenting concern.

School-aged children to adults; individuals and families; couples; anxiety, depression, burnout, Christian/faith-based counseling (upon request), identity, relationship issues, career/work issues, life transitions.
Fun Fact:
Jay is a multi-instrumentalist who has a passion for faith, family, fitness, and food! He and his wife, who is a psychiatric nurse practitioner, have plans to start a church that includes a mental health clinic.
