Bio:
Erin is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern who is pursuing her master’s degree from Liberty University. Previously, she has obtained her undergraduate degree in psychology with a concentration in human services from Appalachian State University. Erin is currently working as an office administrator within the practice to gain experience in areas like administrative tasks and communicating with clients regarding client set up. Within this experience Erin is able to step more into the experience of clients as they enter their counseling journey.

Counseling Approach:
Erin’s therapeutic approach comes from a person-centered perspective as she believes that the relationship between the therapist and client instills opportunities for client support and growth. She believes it is important to create an environment that clients feel safe, heard, and valued as they share their unique experience and stories. She desires for clients to be in an environment that is trustworthy, empathetic, and non-judgemental. Erin holds to the belief that the counseling process is a collaborative journey between the client and therapist to build a strong therapeutic relationship while also working to establish goals that promote the individuality of each client. Erin also integrates components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to uncover how one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors may be connected and how they may impact one another.

Fun Fact:
Erin grew up competitively dancing, and has now taken on the role of being a dance teacher who teaches a variety of classes like tap, hip hop, jazz, and lyrical. Erin also thrives off of being active whether it is dancing, lifting weights, doing pilates, or enjoying a nice walk in nature.
